The course provides 15+ hours of focused study in preparation for the ACT Test. By design, the course provides= trained teachers who will navigate you through the ACT testing process. Class= room time will focus on understanding the format of the test, building strategies for answering more questions correctly and pacing yourself during a timed test. We also provide an opportunity to take a mock test under actual testing conditions. Students build confidence and skills that will boost th= eir scores on the actual test.   Students will have access to hundred= s of practice questions. The cost of the program is $150 and scholarships = are available for students who need financial assistance (see your counselor). Whether you have taken the ACT test before or you are new= to the experience, we will prepare you to do your personal best.=

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCMENTS

There will be an important Baseball player meeting on Wednesday, October 1= 4 in Room A106. All interested baseball players in grades 9-12 shou= ld attend either before school at 7:00 am or after school at 2:45 pm. See Coach Strey if you are unable to attend.

SPORT SCORES

(new) The Eastview Girl= s' Cross Country team competed at the cold and snowy Lions Invitational in Alexandria. The team finished 7^th overall out of 16 teams. Anne Ferguson and Jena Moody place 13^th and 14^th in a strong field of 167 runners. Rebecca Pachuta wa= s 36^th with Courtney Conroy and Kenzie Burkstrand finishing out the scorers for Eastview.

The Girls Varsity Soccer team will be the #2 seed heading into playoffs = this week. Brave the weather and come out and cheer on the team Tuesday ni= ght at 7pm in the Eastview stadium as they take on Farmington!

The 9A Girl’s Soccer team finished the season last Friday with a comfortable win 3-1 at Metcalf Junior High in Burnsville. Scoring for the Lightning were Abby Lee, Melisse Chasse and Kel= sey Bettelli. Congratulations to all the players for a gr= eat season with a record of 11 wins and 2 losses.

The Girls Swimming and Diving team gathered 914 points in the True Team Section 2AA on Saturday.   The 200 Medley Relay team of= Breanna Schlegel, Kristin <= span class=3DSpellE>Podratz, Kayla Huts= ell, Hayley Trace finished strong and won first place. Kayla Hutsell placed first in 100 butterfly and second in 1= 00 backstroke. Also in second place, Kristin Podrat= z in 100 breaststroke, followed very closely by An= na Drahos in third place. Hayley Trace finished third in 50 freestyle.   Come and cheer the Lighting Champion team against Rosemount at Rosemount on Tuesday, October 1= 3.

The JV Volleyball team finished 9^th at the Lakeville North to= urnament this past weekend. After a first round loss, the team battled back and won the last three matches of the tournament. Their next match is tomorrow night at Lakeville North.

(new) The Varsity Bowling = team went 1 and 1 on Saturday, dropping out of a tie for first place with a 6 - 2 record. Senior Matt Barker accomplished a first for us - he had a perfect d= ay with 14 strikes and 12 spares - NO OPENS!! This will improve his stan= ding of the top 101 bowlers in the State. Matt is currently 47th and Eric Hatzenbuhler is 39^th. = Our team is 14^th in the State (out of well over 100) with a 182 team average. The team is having a fundraiser tonight at Ci= ci's Pizza in Eagan. 15% of your bill goes to our team. Please come out and supp= ort your school's bowling team.

Last Saturday, the EV Chess team won all 3 of their matches to run t= heir season record to 5 and 1. Zane Larwood, E= ric Hanson, and Nittin Prasad were undefeated for t= he day. Great job, guys!

Students interested in joining the Debate team for our November topic are inv= ited to attend our new topic preview this week. If you are interested in public forum debate, come Wednesday (October 14) to A300 from 2:45-4:00.&nb= sp; If you are interested in classic debate, practice is tomorrow from 2:45-4:00. On Saturday, the Eastview Marching Band ear= ned a first place tie at the Prairie Colors Marching Band Competition at Eden Pra= irie with a score of 86.6. In spite of cold weather and wind the band earned cap= tion awards for outstanding winds and outstanding color guard. Sophia Kor and Jack Mullaney were recognized as the outstanding Drum Majors in the event. The band was also recognized with the Wells Fargo Spirit Award. All students had their best performance to date and are looking toward our final shows of the year at t= he Youth in Music Championships on October 24 at the Metr= odome. Congratulations, Marching Band!
