The What & The Who:

Any EVHS student grades 9-12.  You do not have to be good- you just have to enjoy it!  This year we are going NORTH:  Instead of going to Welch Village every other week, we are going to make 2 day trips up to Lutsen Mt. along the North Shore (http://www.lutsen.com/winter/) for a more unique experience. 

“Lutsen offers 92 sweeping runs over four mountains, each with its own distinct flavor. Add Mid-America's only gondola, and you have real mountain skiing with the true character of a Western ski resort. In addition, it accumulates more snow than any other due to the lake effect.  “

The Plan & The How:

We will be chartering a 47 passenger tour bus travelling in comfort to and from Eastview / Lutsen.  We will be leaving early in the morning @ 5am from EVHS and returning around 10pm in the evening.  The plan is to make a quick stop at Toby’s (Hinckley, MN) to use the restroom and allow students purchase a quick caramel/cinnamon roll, arriving at Lutsen around 9:30am.  Students will be able to ski and board till the 4:30 closing time; eating a bag lunch  or purchasing lunch on the hill.  At the end of the day, students will board the bus for the return trip to Eastview, stopping at McDonalds in Duluth to pick up a quick meal for the ride home.

The 2 planned dates to head up to Lutsen are as follows: 

Saturday, January 6   /  Saturday, February 20

Deadlines for permission forms & $$ are as follows: 

January 6 trip = Friday, Dec 4  /  February 20 trip = Thursday, January 11

The Cost:

$80 paid up front to cover cost of a lift ticket ($58 ~ 14% off normal rate) and transportation ($22) for 40 students.  (FYI- The club will be offsetting/  covering $10 per person transportation.)  Transportation is very expensive ($1300) and is dependent on # of students participating on each trip and how much our fundraiser “Refresh” clears at the ticket window.  Please feel free to contact with me with any questions or concerns.

4th Annual Colorado Trip Information
EVHS Ski & Snowboard Trip to Winter Park

DATE:         Martin Luther King Weekend 
Friday, January 15 – Monday, January 18, 2009

We are flying out on Friday, January 15 to Denver from MPLS International Airport on NW flight #2563 (departs @ 5:00pm/ arrives @ 5:56pm).  From Denver, we will take a bus to Winter Park (www.skiwinterpark.com).  We will be staying at the Best Western (same as last year) which is right in downtown Winter Park on the bus route.  Our plan is to ski/board full days Saturday, Sunday, and ½ day on Monday before packing up and flying back Monday night on NW flight #2346 (departs @ 5:10 / arrives @ 8:00pm).  There will be 4 to 6 teachers/adults chaperoning the trip.  Mandatory parent/ child meeting prior to departure in January on a date to be determined.
