Eastview High School Performing Arts Center
Welcome to the 2008-2009 Eastview High School Fine and Performing
Arts season. We are extremely excited to open our twelfth year of outstanding
concerts,
shows and performances. Our Fine and Performing Arts programs offer our students
an enriching balance between academics and the arts. This year we will bring
a variety of performances to the stage that are sure to entertain our audiences.
We invite you to come and enjoy many of the fantastic opportunities that
will be offered this year in the Eastview High School Performing Arts Center.
We will open our season in October with "The Kentucky Cycle"Winner of the 1992 Pulitzer Prize, The Kentucky Cycle is a series of nine plays spanning over 200 years of American history in a small portion of eastern Kentucky.
Eastview Theatre will present two plays from The Kentucky Cycle, “Tall Tales” and “Fire in the Hole.” Both plays detail the lives, loves, and losses of the Rowens. A storyteller arrives suddenly and fills the dusty home of Jed Rowen with visions of greater wealth and prosperity. Like many American tales, however, this story does not reveal to whom the wealth and prosperity will belong. Thirty years later, as coal tipples have replaced trees, a small community tries to fight big coal and win back the land of their ancestors.
Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and students.
In December we will present the musical "The Music Man". The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian.
This award-winning, critically acclaimed Broadway classic is an all-American institution, thanks to is quirky characters, charmingly dramatic situations, and one-of-a-kind, nostalgic score of rousing marches, barbershop quartets and sentimental ballads. Among the memorable numbers are “Ya Got Trouble,” “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “Till There Was You,” and “Gary, Indiana.” This musical is funny, warm, romantic, and touching, “The Music Man” is family entertainment at its best. Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and $5 for students.
In the
month of January, the Minnesota State High School League will host the One-Act
Play competition. This contest provides an opportunity for students to perform
against area schools in a competitive theatrical environment.

annual speech showcase. This show features the wonderful speeches that our
students have performed in competition throughout the year. Join us and enjoy
