The District 196 Parent Education Conference was selected to receive a 2011 Project Award from the Minnesota Community Education Association (MCEA).
Organized by the District 196 Community Education Department, the Parent Education Conference is currently in its sixth year. The free half-day event features a keynote speaker, breakout workshops on a wide variety of parenting topics and a resource fair.
This year's Parent Education Conference will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Eastview High School. The keynote address, "Be the Parent You Want to Be," will be delivered by developmental psychologist Dr. Marti Erickson and maternal-child health specialist Erin Erickson, the mother-daughter cohosts of Mom Enough. Following the keynote, participants can choose from two of more than 20 breakout workshops that will be held from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m., and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
