Science: The MCA-II Science Test is a computer-delivered test given in grades 5, 8 and high school. A full length test for each grade will have 8-10 scenarios. Most scenarios address multiple strands in the Minnesota Academic Standards for Science.
The Science test meets the requirements of No Child Left Behind. It is used to determine whether schools and districts have made adequate yearly progress toward all students being proficient in 2014.
Links to item samplers for science are provided below to familiarize both students and staff with the format of the computer-delivered science tests in grades 5, 8 and high school. For 2007-08 each sample represents a set of 2-3 science scenarios with 3-8 items depending on the grade level.
The Minnesota Test of Academic Skills (MTAS) is Minnesota’s new alternate assessment based on alternate achievement standards. The MTAS is part of the statewide assessment program designed to measure the extent to which students with significant cognitive disabilities are making progress in the general curriculum.
